He is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our FREEDOM with the blood of his son and forgave our sins. (Ephesians 1:7)
About a year ago I had a realization about the difference between Freewill and Freedom. I thought I had discovered the crown jewel of following Jesus and I had to tell everyone about it. The more I learned about the Freedom we have in Jesus the more I realized everyone already knew about it. LOL How in the world had I missed this for so long? So, naturally I shut all things down and decided I was the worst Christian on earth and had no business sharing any kind of Jesus with anyone.
But God. After months and months of life I asked myself, Am I the only one who missed the mark on the Freedom thing? Certainly not. In all things I am average. I always have been. So if I, the average woman, have missed the freedom that Jesus gives then certainly there are other woman who have missed it too.
Let us share in the freedom that God has given us through Christ…..

We have freedom from dead things
Sisters! , Are you struggling with a thing in your life that is just dead? A marriage. Hope for your children. Faith in what you can not see. Endurance through addiction. A career. IT just feels dead and there is nothing you can do about it.
Well,….. Matthew 27:59-60 Joseph took the body of Jesus and wrapped it in a ling linen cloth. HE placeds it in his own tomb, which had been carved outof the rock. Then he rolled a great stone across the entrance as he left.
The disciples just berried their beloved Jesus. It was all over. Even though they heard and knw what Jesus had told them, they could not phathem anything good would come next. They were broken and grieving and their Jesus was dead.
Mean while,…. Matthew 27: 62-65 the leading priests and pharisees went to see Pilate. They told him, “Sir, we remember what that deceiver (Jesus) once said while he was still alive: “After three days I will be raised from the dead”. So we request that you seal the tomb until the third day. This will prevent his disciples from coming and stealing his body and then telling everyone he came back to life. IF that happens, we’ll be worse off that we were at first. Pilate replied, Take guards and secure it the best you can. So they sealed the tomb ands posted guards to protect it.
BUT GOD,…. Matthew 28:2 Suddenly there was a great earthquake, because an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and rolled aside the stone and sat on it. His face shone like lightening, and his clothing was as white as snow. The guards shook with fear when they saw him, and they fell into a dead faint.
Yes there are dead things in our life. But nothing stays dead when God says LIVE.
We do not have to stay in the dead parts of our life. We can trust that when we lay our needs, the dead, excrutiating, broken things at the Lords feet, that he has the power to bring them back to life.

It’s Freedom Friday! The twins have a message today about things we can do to remember that we have freedom through Christ.

We have freedom from our own desires. Oh the desires of our hearts. How they deceive us. When we delight our selves in the Lord, He gives us our hearts desires. In other words, When we delight ourselves in the Lord, our desires align with his will. That is when true fulfillment of our desires happens.

We have freedom from “Joy in the now”. James 1:2-3 says, “Dear Brothers and sisters, whenever trouble comes your way, let it be an opportunity for joy. For when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow.”
Opportunity is the key word here. Opportunity is a set of circumstances that makes it possible for something. James is not telling us to Grin and bare it, He is saying this difficult time is an opportunity for joy to come.

We have Freedom from our PAST through Christ.
” I don’t mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection! But I keep working toward that day when I will finally be all that Christ Jesus saved me for and wants me to be. No, dear brothers and sisters, I am focusing all my energies on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I strain to reach the end of the race and receive the prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us up to heaven.” -Pillippians 3:12-14
Isn’t it hard sometimes, to be left alone with our past? What we did. What we didn’t do. What we don’t think we can do now because of what we did in the past. Who we thought we were is so ingrained in us that we can’t fathom being anyone different. We feel like a fraud.

We have Freedom from THIS WORLD through Christ.
Everything in this world is fleeting. We are here one day and gone the next. All that our culture tells us is important is NOT. When we set our mind to eternal things our Freedom is fullfilled here on earth.
